Choosing the right lustre for your floors can be quite the decision. At TRADITIONAL TIMBER FLOOR SANDING we ease the difficulty in making that choice by offering advice based on, current trends, durability, ease of maintenance and house styles. The pictures here show the three most commonly used lustre/sheen levels "Gloss", "Satin" and "Matte".
Gloss Timber Floor Finish
Gloss 2-pack polyurethane estapol is the most durable and hard wearing of coatings and has a very high LRV (Light Reflection Value), giving sharp reflections and bringing out timber grain definition and colour.
Satin Timber Floor Finish
Satin monothane acrylic estapol though not quite as hard wearing as the 2-pack polyurethane is still quite durable, and applied over two base coats of 2-pack ensures good durability. Satin has a midrange LRV (Light Reflection Valve).
Matte Timber Floor Finish
Matte monothane acrylic is the most subtle of all the sheens available with its LRV (Light Reflection Valve) being very low. Matte has been the choice of many interior designers and architects over the past few years, and is quickly becoming the most commonly used finish in the industry. It lends itself to a variety of interior styles, wall colours and furnishings.
